Tensile test on ceramics

Specimen with displacement sensor

The Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS Dresden conducts research in the field of advanced ceramics. Among other things, it characterises material materials in order to subsequently derive material models for simulations. The IKTS is a long-standing customer of Hegewald & Peschke and already has several universal testing machines of the inspekt table series as well as a system for hot hardness testing.

The current project uses an inspekt table 5 kN tensile testing machine. Its travel speed was modified in such a way that cyclic loading and unloading tests can also be carried out with very high travel resolution. In this way, travel can be controlled by a capacitive displacement sensor that is to be integrated.

The test system is also equipped with a temperature chamber for the range -70 to +250°C in order to be able to carry out tests under the influence of temperature.
